Answer:

Interval Notation: (-∞, -4)

Explanation:

Since x is less than -4, if can be any number less than 4. So it would be from negative infinity to negative 4. I used parenthesis ( instead of brackets [ because you are not including -4 and you are obviously excluding infinity because infinity is not a number.
