Length = 2x - 5

Perimeter of the room = 5x

Perimeter of the room = 2(length + width)

5x = 2{(2x-5) + x}

5x = 2(2x - 5 + x)

5x = 4x - 10 + 2x

5x = 6x - 10

5x - 6x = -10

-x = -10

x = 10

Width = x = 10

Length = 2x - 5

= 2*10 - 5

= 20 - 5

= 15

Perimeter of the room = 5x

= 5 × 10

= 50 square foot
