What your rule from the beginning means is that your x value will be subtracted by 6 and your y value will add 8. So if the final image point is (-4,1) your pre image will have those reversed. You subtracted 6 to get the x value, so now you have to add 6 (-4+6=2). The same goes for the y. You added 8 so now you have to subtract the 8 of the image(1-8=-7). This means your pre-image, before the translation, was located at (2,-7).

Your answer: (2,-7)

Hope this helped!
