d. builds up to the thesis statement.

Well, both B,C, and D are all good things. But the main focus should be A. If you don't pique your reader's interest and attention at the very start, it is very unlikely they'll listen to you, and it honestly makes it a struggle for them to finish. Your title should say, "Come here, you want to read this."
