The population of a city is excpted to increase by 7.5% next year. If p represents the current population, which expression represents the excepted population next year?

A)1.75p
B)1.075p
C)p+0.075
D)1+0.075

"excepted?" I think you meant "expected."

In this problem you need to convert that "7.5%" into a decimal fraction: 0.075.
The increase in population will be 0.075 times p, the current population. You then add that to p, the current population.

But it's easier and faster to multiply p by 1.075. Thus, 1.075p is the correct answer.
