Given the equation of the parabola:

y=x^2+6x-12

To find the vertex of the parabola,

we will substitute with the value (-b/2a) into the function y

\begin{gathered} a=1 \\ b=6 \\ c=-12 \\ \\ x=-(b)/(2a)=-(6)/(2\cdot1)=-3 \\ y=(-3)^2+6\cdot-3-12=9-18-12=-21 \end{gathered}

so, the coordiantes of the vertex :

x = -3

y = -21
