They are vertical angles. Vertical angles are angles opposite each other when two lines intersect.
Thus
3x=80-x. __Add x to both sides
3x+x=80-x+x.___Combine like terms
4x=80.____Divide both sides by 4 to find x
4/4x=80/4
1x=20
x=20
