How does upwelling happen?

this may happen when winds blowing over the ocean push water away. than water raises up from beneath the surface to replace water that was pushed away.

The answer can be described as the following:

Winds blowing across the ocean surface push water away. Water then rises up from beneath the surface to replace the water that was pushed away. This process is known as “upwelling.”. Upwelling then occurs in the open ocean and along coastlines.
