To remember information, to organize their thoughts, to summarize main points.

In overall, when we take notes we do it based on the relevance the idea has to us, that is to say, if it is something we think we will need to review or investigate later on, if it is an idea or information that is new to us or that we have not fully grasp it and therefore taking notes is essential to remember it later. We also take notes to summarize the main points of the text and to organize our thoughts and ideas and have a more clear picture of the text.
