A Ferris wheel has a diameter of 140 ft. There are 40 cars for riders, and they are placed at even intervals around the Ferris wheel.

What is the best approximation of how many feet apart the cars are placed?

Use 3.14 to approximate for π .

4 ft

11 ft

45 ft

386 ft

ok, we will use circumference (even thought a 40 sided polygon would be the best aproxamation)

c=pid
d=140
c=3.14*140
c=439.6
that is total idstance
so divide by 40 to find distance between cars
439.6/40=10.99
about 11ft

Answer: Second option is correct.

Explanation:

Since we have given that

Diameter of wheel = 140 feet

Radius of wheel is given by

R=(140)/(2)=70\ ft

We need to find the "Circumference of circle":

C=2* \pi * r\\\\C=2* 3.14* 70\\\\C=439.6\ ft

According to question, we have given that there are 40 cars for riders.

So, Number of feet apart the cars are placed is given by

(439.6)/(40)=10.99=11\ ft

Hence, Second option is correct.
