John traveled on a motorbike a distance of 1,500 meters north to get to the nearest shopping center. He then turned back south and rode another 1,450 meters to meet his friend. What was his displacement?

The directions are opposite so you'll subtract them.
Displacement = 1500 - 1450
d = 50 m north

In short,Your Answer would be: "50 m to North"

Hope this helps!

Answer:

50 m (North)

Step-by-step explanation:

Let North direction is taken as positive and South direction is taken as negative.

d1 = + 1500 m , d2 = - 1450 m

Net displacement, d = d1 + d2 = 1500 - 1450 = 50 m (North)
