We can learn about new plants and animals. Fossils help researchers learn about plants and animals that became extinct a long time ago. We also can identify how long ago the animal died, how it died, and where it died. By keeping a fossil record we know how long life has been on earth.Fossils also help scientists understand how people of the past lived. The fossils of human remains and of plants and animals can help us better understand. We can find out how those people of the past died, and when they died.

Fossils are evidence of species that lived before us.
Using fossils we can discover:

- Species that may have been undiscovered and are extinct
- Carbon-dating (tells how long ago a species lived)
- Sometimes even the arrangement of continents, they found fossils from dinosaurs that lived in different continents. Further proving the theory of Pangea.

Hope this helped. Have a great day!
