138.24 = 9.6x(3.2)
138.24 = 30.72x
x = 4.5
width is 4.5 in

Answer: 4.5 inches

Explanation:

The volume of a rectangular prism is given by ;-

V=l* w* h, where l is length , w is width and h is height of the rectangular prism.

Given : V= 138.24 cubic inches, h= 9.6 inches , l = 3.2 inches

Substitute these values in the above formula , we get :-

138.24=3.2* w* 9.6\\\\\Rightarrow\ w=(138.24)/(3.2*9.6)\\\\\Rightarrow\ w=4.5\text{ inches}

Therefore , the width of the prism = 4.5 inches.
