Answer:

Number of bats ordered = 24

Number of balls ordered = 76

Explanation:

Let,

x be the number of bats ordered

y be the number of balls ordered

According to given statement;

x+y = 100 Eqn 1

20x+4.50y = 822 Eqn 2

Multiplying Eqn 1 by 20

20(x+y=100)

20x+20y=2000 Eqn 3

Subtracting Eqn 2 from Eqn 3

(20x+20y)-(20x+4.50y)=2000-822

20x+20y-20x-4.50y=1178

15.50y = 1178

Dividing both sides by 15.50

(15.50y)/(15.50)=(1178)/(15.50)\\y=76

Putting y=76 in Eqn 1

x+76 = 100

x= 100-76

x = 24

Hence,

Number of bats ordered = 24

Number of balls ordered = 76
