Multiply the bottom equation by -2

2x + 3y = 5
-2x + -4y = -12
-y = -7
y = 7

x + 2(7) = 6
x + 14 = 6
x = 6 - 14
x = -8

x = -8, y = 7
(-8,7)

Answer:

x= -8

y=7

Explanation:

make it so the x's cancel out

to do this multiply the bottom equation by 2

2x+3y=5

2x+4y=12

subtract to cancel out the x

-y=-7

y=7

now substitute y into one of the equations(I'm going to do x+2y=6)

x+2(7)=6

x+14=6

x=-8
