Your company recently made a purchase of 25 identical tables. The purchase price after adding 5% sales tax was $1,706.25. You later realize that you only needed 20 tables.

Answer:

overspent $341.25.

Explanation:

If the tables bought were 25 at a price of $1706.25 with tax of 5%. Therefore we can work out how much was paid for per table:

=1706.25/25=68.25

The company paid $68.25 per table. They only need 20 tables and should of paid:

=68.25*20=1365

Therefore the company should have paid $1365 instead of $1706.25, so they overspent $341.25.
