12 minutes is 12/60 of an hour. or you could simplify it and it would be 1/5 of an hour. You could figure this out by multiplying 1 * 12. Then since its an hour and there are 60 minutes in an hour, you would put 12 over 60.

If one minute is 1/60, then 12 minutes is 12/60, which simplifies to 1/5
