Two boats leave a port on a river at the same time, traveling in opposite directions. Each is traveling at 22mph. How long will it take them to be 110 miles apart?

If they are going 22mph, then in 5 hours they will both have gone 110 miles. However, since they are going opposite directions, that will double, making their distance apart 220 miles. So, you take half of that. You have to find out how long it will take each of the boats to go 55 miles (because that added together is 110 miles). So the answer is 2 and a half hours.
