Margaret Fuller was an American Journalist, editor and critic, as well as a women's right advocate. She was the first American woman to become a full-time book review in journalism. She wrote the book Woman in the Nineteenth Century, which is considered to be the first major Feminist work in the United States.

She believed that women needed freedom to develop the powers that they possessed. She saw women not as inferior beings, or people that should attend to domestic tasks only, but as intelligent beings, capable of much more, that needed freedom and education to achieve their potential.
