We can classify both the shovel and the garden trowel as compound machines. This is because each garden tool contains two simple machines,

A)
a lever and a wedge.

B)
a blade and a handle.

C)
a lever and a pulley.

D)
an inclined plane and a wedge.

We can classify both the shovel and the garden trowel as compound machines. This is-example-1

A.) A lever and a wedge

The shovel and the garden trowel are both compound machines because they are both contain a lever and a wedge. The entire tool, handle and blade, make up a third class lever. The blade of the shovel and the trowel contain a wedge.
