A cat chased after a dog for 1 mile, and then stopped to rest. As soon as the cat stopped, the dog chased after the cat for 1500 yards back towards their starting point. How many yards were the animals from their starting point?

The correct answer is 260 yards away from their starting point. You do how many yards in a mile 1760 yards then subtract that by 1500 and get 260.So you get 260 yards they are 260 yards from starting point.Hope this helps :D

Answer:

260 yards

Explanation:

First, we know that 1 mile is equivalent to 1760 yards.

So, the cat moved 1 mile, which is 1760 yards. Then the dog move 1500 yards, in the opposite direction that mean we have to subtract.

Next, we subtract 1760 yards from 1500 yards, which are the distances from the cat and dogs movements respectively. The results of this subtract is 260 yards, which is the difference between their starting point and the ending points.

Therefore, they are 260 yards from their starting point.
