If you substitute the values in to the equation, you will get:
8 - (4.7 * -1) - 2 and that will get you to...
8 - (-4.7) - 2
8 + 4.7 - 2
= 10.7

substitute in the values for y and x into the equation.
so..
8 - 4.7(-1) - (2) solve the equation
8 + 4.7 -2
12.7 - 2
10.7
