x = 1, y = 2

Explanation:

Multiply 2x - 8y = -14 ​by 5 to get 10x - 40y = -70

Subtract (10x - 40y = -70) - (10x - 9y = -8)

Solve -31y = -62 for y

y = 2

Plug in y value to get x value

x = 1
