4a=a+a+a+a= 2(a+a)=2a+2a=4a A represents one side of the square

2(a+b)=2a+2b A has two same size (#/ number) B has two same sizes (number)

Two expressions for the perimeter of a square are:

- a represents one side of the square

the first expression does not include any addition. But the two expressions are actually equivalent.
