A.
The image is along the same ray as the preimage but is farther from the center of dilation.
B.
The image is along the opposite ray from the preimage but is farther from the center of dilation.
C.
The image is along the same ray as the preimage but is closer to the center of dilation.

Answer: The image is along the same ray as the preimage but is closer to the center of dilation.

Explanation:

  • A dilation is a transformation that creates an image by stretching or shrinking a the original shape by a scale factor. It preserves the shape but may not the size.

If a figure is dilated such that its its orientation is preserved then the image is along the same ray as the pre-image .

Also, if the figure is reduced then it seem closer to the center of dilation as compare to the pre-image.

Therefore, the statement that best describes the dilation is "The image is along the same ray as the preimage but is closer to the center of dilation."
