well first you have to make 1/4 into a fraction with 8 as a denominator so that would be ,2/8. then add 2/8 and 7/8 together and get 9/8 which=1 1/8.then change 1 1/8 and 1/3 so they have the same denominater, them just subtract

7/3+2/8
9/8-1/3
27/24-8/24=19/24
