So you distribute 4 into the parentheses. So 4x-4 and then you add on a +10. Then you do -4+10 which equals positive 6. So you are left with 4x+6. And if you needed to solve it you would then put =0 at the end and then subtract 6 on both sides and you'd get 4x=-6 and then you divide by four on both sides and you get x=-6/4 which simplifies to x=-3/2

4(x-1)+10 DISTRIBUTE 4 into what is written in the parathesis

4x-4+10

Number 2...

4x-4+10 ADD negative four to ten

4x+6

3) Your answer in its most simplified form:

4x+6
