This is probably a really dumb question for middle school. If I had an equation lets say p = q and -p + 3 = q how would I know which way to order the pairs after finding the intersect without knowing if p or q was x or y. As in (p, q) or (q, p)

No question is dumb! Flip them like this
q=-p + 3
Looks like this
Y=-x + 3
