Explanation :

(1) Work is said to be done when a force is applied on an object in order to displace it.

Mathematically, it is defined as :

W =F.d\ cos\theta

Where,

F is the applied force

d is the displacement

\theta is the angle between the force and the displacement.

Work is also defined as the transfer of energy. Energy is defined as the capacity of a body to do any work.

(2) Mass of the canoe, m = 20 kg

Speed of canoe, v = 2 m/s

Kinetic energy of a body is possessed by virtue of its motion.

K=(1)/(2)mv^2

K=(1)/(2)* 20\ kg* (2\ m/s)^2

K=40\ J

The kinetic energy of the canoe is 40 J.

Hence, this is the required solution.

Work is a transfer of energy

K.E = 1/2 x mv²
K.E = 1/2 x 20 x 2²
K.E = 40 Joules
