why are the cave drawings at pech-merle in france considered to be among the most fascinating prehistoric paintings

It is one of the few prehistoric cave paintings and was created in about 25,000 B.C. The walls were painted with dramatic murals dating from the Gravettian culture. Some of the engravings, however may date from the later Magdalenian era which was in about 16,000 years B.C
