The answer is bebop.

This is a style of jazz developed, after the Second World War, in the United States, just when the Beat Generation was beginning to be recognized. It is characterized by a fast tempo, complex chord arrangements and instrumental virtuosity. In On the Road, by Jack Kerouac, one of the most influential figures of the Beat Generation, he claims that his writing is a translation of the saxophone improvisations of Charlie Parker, one of the most influential figures of Bebop (and Jazz in general).
