This is a unit conversion problem basically. So we have 40 mpg in U.K gallons, and we want to convert that to U.S gallons first. To do that we have to convert 40 U.K gallons to liters, then we convert that value of liters to U.S gallons. This value should be your new MPG for the U.S.
