So I would like to be a doctor, or preferably a surgeon when I'm older. Am I right when I say that pre-med is something you must do before medical school? If yes, I'm going to get a bachelor's degree of pre-med, if available. THEN I take Medical School?

Also, MCATS are taken when? SO confuzzled....
Is Northwestern University a medical school or pre-med?
THANKS.

There is no degree in pre-med. Pre-med is just a descriptive word that describes your intention to go into medicine. Telling everyone you are pre-med is a bit pretentious. You can declare any major in college prior to taking the MCATs but you must take the prerequisites such as biology, chemistry, physics and general education classes to score well and meet the requirements for medical school. The traditional major to enter if you would like to go to medical school is biology.

I did some research, and it said that the Northwestern University is a medical school. And, yes. I'm pretty sure that pre-med is something that you must do before medical school.

Hope this helps! I think it's really cool that you're interested in being a doctor/surgeon! I have a couple of friends who also wish to be in the medical field. C:
