Answer:

Let's first find the equation of the line with slope -5 and y-intercept -8:

y = mx + b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept

So, y = -5x - 8

Now, let's check if the point (2,-3) lies on the line by substituting x = 2 and y = -3 in the equation of the line:

-3 = -5(2) - 8

-3 = -18

This is not true, so the point (2,-3) does not lie on the line with slope -5 and y-intercept -8.

First you have to put it in y=mx+b form
Then, just plug those two numbers in.... y=-3 x=2 m(slope)=-5 b(y-intercept)=-8

-3 = -5(2) + -8 now simplify :D

-3= -10 - 8
is that true or not? lets see

-10-8= -18

-18 is not equal to -3 so, no, it does not pass through the point (2,-3) hope this helped :D
