an example of a decomposer is bacteria . If a decomposer was absent from a forest ecosystem then the breakdown of dead material , dead bodies would pile up.

A decomposer eliminates waste from remains of organisms. An example is a fungus. If it were missing from an ecosystem, it would not allow for the "recycling" of organisms, and therefore there would be a buildup of animal and forest waste.
