How do canadas new laws help native peoples preserve there culture?

There is one treaty called the Indian Act, which is a list of rights for the Aboriginal people. ex. Cod were fished in large scale, and now are not allowed to fish any more in some areas of Canada, but Aboriginals can always fish as much as they want, because that's their main food supplies.
