We have to use the elimination method to solve the following system of equation with variables a and b:

5a+5b=25 -------(1)

-5a+5b=35-------(2)

Clearly on adding equation (1) to (2) we get:

5a+5b=25

-5a+5b=35

0+10b=60

i.e. 10b=60 is the equation that we obtain and on solving this we obtain:

b=6 ( since on dividing both side of the equality by 10)

Also, on putting value of b in equation (1) we obtain the value of a as:

5a+5×6=25

5a+30=25

5a=25-30

5a=-5

Hence, a= -1.
