Answer:

Franklin was known for his religious and cultural tolerance. In his writing piece, Remarks Concerning the Savages of North America, his purpose was to explain why the natives were attacking and killing the colonists. Franklin often thought it was best to see both sides of a story. He shows his understanding that there is a cultural difference between the two in this quote from the text he states, "Savages we call them, because their Manners differ from ours, which we think the Perfection of Civility. They think the same of theirs." In the natives' point of view, the colonists stole their land and raided it for resources. The colonists saw no problem in occupying the natives' land for their own benefit. The colonists did not see that what they did caused the natives to feel threatened and obligated to protect their land. This misunderstanding shows that both the natives and the colonists are doing what they see as civil and right for their people. That is why Franklin wrote his piece to show the opposite point of view.

Franklin did his best to explain to the colonists the reasons why the Native Americans attacked the colonists and killed them. The problem was that the colonists occupied the territories which belonged to those tribes and where they cultivated or searched resources for their survival and naturally the Natives felt immediately threatened and started to protect their lands and themselves from the foreign expansion.
