divide both sides by 5 , so 5(x + 5)/5 < 85/5 , which will give you x + 5 < 17 , then minus 5 from both sides which will give you x < 12 . hope this helps !

Answer:

x < 12

In solution set, we can write it as (-∞, 12)

Explanation:

Given inequality: 5(x + 5) < 85

Here we have to solve for "x"

To isolated the variable and constant:

Step 1: Divide both side by 5, we get

x + 5 < 85/5

x + 5 < 17

Step 2: Subtract 5 on both sides, we get

x + 5 - 5 < 17 - 5

x < 12

In solution set, we can write it as (-∞, 12)
