A cylinder shaped container has a diameter of 50 cm and a height of 100 cm. A glass sphere with a radius of 10 cm is placed inside the cylinder shaped container and then the container is completely filled with water.

What is the approximate volume of water contained in the cylinder?

Use 3.14 as an approximation for pi.

4,187 cm³

192,063 cm³

196,250 cm³

volume of a cylinder = πr²h
π=3.14
r=25
h=100

v = (3.14)(25)²(100)
v = (3.14)(625)(100)
v = 196,250 cm³

volume of a sphere = (4/3)πr³

v = (4/3)(3.14)(10)³
v = 4,186.67

196,250 - 4,186 = 192,063

the correct answer is the second choice, 192,063 cm³
