When the March girls were younger, they used to act a scene from a book known as, The Pilgrims Progress, written by John Bunyan.

In the play they pretend to be carrying their personal burdens while moving to the Celestial City. The girls then decide to carry the problems that were tormenting them gracefully by living as good Christians.
