The architect's side view drawing of a saltbox-style house shows a post that supports the roof ridge. The support post is 8

ft tall. The distance from the front of the house to the support post is less than the distance from the post to the back of the house. How far from the front of the house is the support post positioned?

As the side view of a saltbox-style house is an irregular pentagon then what you need to do is the following:
x < y
If the support post is 8 ft tall, then
y = 8/2 = 4 ft
In the previous formula x is the distance from the house of the house to the support post and y is the distance from the post to the back of the house. That is why the answer is 4ft
