The answer is:A = 231e^(.0010776*12) = 234 million in 2003
k=(In(233/231))/(8)
k=1.00865/8 <===== you used the ratio of 233/321, not the natural log of the ratio.
233/231 = 1.00865
ln(233/231) = ln(1.00865) = 0.0086207
k = 0.0086207/8 = 0.0010776
