The answer is 30 cups
Let x be a multiplier. So:
2x + 5x + 9x = 96
16x = 96
x = 96/16
x = 6 cups
Since the number of onion cups is 5x, then 5 * 6 = 30 cups are needed to make 96 cups of salsa.
