15% of the apples in a crate are rotten. There are 12 rotten apples in the crate. How many apples are in the crate?

Put 15% over 100 cause there's 100%. Then you put 12 over the variable x cause that's how many are rotten. Multiply 15 times x.and 12 times 100. You get 1200 and divide by 15x. X equals 80
