Women had gotten jobs in domestic service, textile factories, and piece work shops. They had to do a lot of the work that the men wouldn't do. They were paid very low compared to the men. They also lived very close to their work and  never really married. They worked for about 12 to 13 hours everyday. Never had a day off of work.
