The moisture in the freezer will freeze due to the cold temperature, and form a layer of ice (the water molecules expand and solidify). Each time the freezer is opened, the moisture that enters via the air will freeze and form a layer of ice on top of the previous layer, causing the ice to grow thicker over time.

Because of low temperature of freezer, the moisture present inside the fridge condenses and form a layer of ice inside the freezer. Moisture present in the food items kept inside the freezer also condenses and increases the thickness of ice layer inside the freezer. Every time we kept new food item inside the fridge moisture of that food items condenses and increase the thickness of ice layer
