First, we set up our problem.

5/7+3/8.

Then we find our least common denominator.

Our LCD is 56.

We multiply what we did in the bottom to the top.

Here's our problem so far.

40/56+21/56

Next, we add 40 and 56.

40+21=61.

Now we have 61/56.
An improper fraction.

We simplify it.

Our final answer is 1 5/56. (Fully simplified)
