The ship makes a 90 degree angle when it changes its course to 107 degrees so 84 km anf 135 km are 2 legs of a right triangle. The hypotenuse would be:
hyp^2 = 84^2 + 135^2
hyp^2 = sq root(25,281)
hypotenuse = 159 kilometers = distance traveled

A ship travels 84 km on a bearing of 17°, and then travels on a bearing of 107° for-example-1
