No that's only the first step. They also test RH. The donor blood is also tested for disease. The next step is looking at the recipient and their needs as far as matchability for a blood and blood product transfusion.

Knowing the ABO blood type of a potential donor is only the first step. It is important to test Rh and test the blood to ensure there a no diseases that would harm the patient.
